BioDXA

BioClinica BioDXA is a modality-specific, clinical trial bioimaging solution for Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA). BioDXA is designed to accept all Hologic® and GE Healthcare DXA patient data, instrument quality control and phantom data in one relational, scalable database. BioDXA is also linked to BioTRACK and houses all aspects of your DXA data in one discrete location making it one of the most efficient clinical data management services.

DXA Phantom

Clinical trials using Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DXA) have to be precisely controlled. The DXA instruments provide a numerical output of bone mineral density in g/cm2 and have to be calibrated daily. In a clinical trial setting, careful instrument calibration and cross-calibration has to be performed at a higher level to match FDA guidelines and ensure minor changes are detected. To this end, we offer BioClinica Bona Fide Phantom (BFP) for cross-calibration. BioClinica BFP is an FDA-compliant, multi-density phantom for checking linearity that was created to be DXA manufacturer agnostic, and has been shown to independently match clinical patient data better than any other phantom. Not only does it provide a range of densities, areas while allowing thorough assessment of the scanner, it is preferred by DXA technologists for its ease of use and speed of measurement. The BioClinica BFP solution is the phantom of choice for cross calibration.

BFP Spine Phantom

BioClinica BFP is a quality control tool for Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry instruments, which features an acrylic-embedded calcium hydroxyapatite (CHA) step-wedge. Advanced design features make it the best choice for assessing the stability of Dual-energy X-ray instruments. The BFP has been used successfully on all mainstream DXA instruments. The BFP offers a range of densities (0.7 to 1.5 g/cm2), to verify instrument function over the clinically relevant range, not just at a single, "healthy" BMD. Linearity of BMD over the clinical range is critical for full instrument evaluation. The phantom uses a CHA insert for direct assessment of bone density accuracy, which is also compliant with FDA guidelines for cross-calibration phantoms for clinical trials.

The BFP is cast in acrylic and comes with its own carrying tote for easy handling. The tote remains on the phantom during scanning and does not affect BMD readings, allowing rapid placement and removal for the phantom from the bed. A flight case is available as an option.
