Main profile

David Scott, PhD

David Scott is a Scientist at BioClinica with experience utilizing neuroimaging techniques to study the neural correlates of behavior and centrally-mediated diseases such as chronic pain, depression, and addiction, with a recent emphasis on Alzheimer's Disease and Stroke.  In his current position, David collaborates with pharma and academic specialists in the application of medical imaging to answer clinically and scientifically important questions in the evaluation of drug efficacy and safety.

As a student at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Michigan, he employed multi-modal imaging approaches including functional PET and fMRI to study the neurobiology of placebo analgesia.  As a Research Scientist at Omneuron, he developed real-time fMRI applications aimed at treating chronic diseases, and employed advanced MRI-based tools including voxel-based morphometry, spectroscopy, diffusion tensor imaging, arterial spin labeling, resting-state and task-based fMRI to identify a brain-based biomarker for chronic pain.  David has employed these tools in multiple clinical trials, involving thousands of scan hours in hundreds of patients and healthy controls.
